You start out as a fashion consultant of sorts for the customers of the store by recommending outfits for them. Like your grandmother before you, your character ultimately ends up spending time in Beaumonde, where Sophie enlists you to work your fashion magic in a boutique. Then again, I’m also the same guy who legitimately worried a cousin after he walked into my living room just as I blurted out “Ooh, I got new shoes!” while playing “Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure.” In my defense, those red glittery pumps looked positively tight. Which probably makes me seem like a bit of an odd choice to review the very haute couture “Style Savvy: Fashion Forward” video game for the Nintendo 3DS.
Talk about a fashion faux pas you’d rather forget. Take it from a guy who used to tuck his baggy acid-wash jeans into his Reebok hi-tops (yikes!). The bigger motivation for me, however, is a huge repository of family photographs from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s that show how subscribing to the edgy “in-fashion” of the time is almost always a bad idea several years later. I’m sure my personality plays a part in it. Follow Technobubble poobah Jason Hidalgo’s shenanigans on Twitter am the living embodiment of “normcore.”
